Getting Started

Installing the Toolkit

Click the button above to install directly into your Contio workspace. If you have the desktop app, it will open automatically. Otherwise, you'll be directed to the web app.

Manual installation:

  1. Download recruiting-interview-suite.json
  2. In your workspace, go to Settings โ†’ Toolkits โ†’ Import
  3. Upload the JSON file and confirm

That's it โ€” your workspace now has all the templates, shortcuts, and automations ready to use.


Usage Guide

Before the Interview

  1. Create a meeting using the appropriate template (Phone Screen, Technical, or Behavioral)
  2. Review the agenda items and customize if needed
  3. Invite the candidate and interviewers

During the Interview

  1. Use Flag as Strength (๐Ÿ’ช) when the candidate demonstrates a positive quality
  2. Use Flag as Concern (โš ๏ธ) when you observe a gap or red flag
  3. Use Capture STAR Answer (๐Ÿ“‹) after behavioral questions to structure the response
  4. Use Time Check (โฑ๏ธ) to stay on pace

After the Interview

  1. Interview Summary auto-generates with key observations
  2. Generate Scorecard creates competency-based evaluation
  3. Review and approve the assessment in the workflow
  4. A Candidate Scorecard canvas is created automatically

During the Debrief

  1. Use the Hiring Debrief template
  2. Each interviewer shares their independent assessment (no cross-talk initially)
  3. Debrief Brief auto-generates the panel consensus
  4. Approve to distribute the decision to the hiring team

Customization

This toolkit works out of the box, but most organizations will want to tailor it to their hiring process. All customizations can be made through the Contio UI.

Changing Competencies

Your competency rubric is probably different from the defaults. To customize:

  1. Go to Settings โ†’ Next Steps
  2. Find "Generate Scorecard" and click Edit
  3. Modify the competencies list in the AI prompt
  4. Save your changes

Adding Interview Stages

If your process has additional stages (culture fit, executive review, etc.):

  1. Go to Settings โ†’ Templates
  2. Click New Template or duplicate an existing one
  3. Configure the agenda items for your stage
  4. Add relevant shortcuts and next steps

Creating Custom Shortcuts

Add one-tap actions for your evaluation criteria:

  1. Go to Settings โ†’ Shortcuts
  2. Click New Shortcut
  3. Choose an icon, color, and write a prompt
  4. Select which meeting surfaces it appears on

Example โ€” Values Alignment Shortcut: - Name: Flag Values Signal - Icon: ๐ŸŽฏ - Prompt: "Insert a values alignment marker with timestamp and brief observation"

Modifying AI Prompts

Tune the AI-generated content for your terminology and format:

  1. Go to Settings โ†’ Next Steps
  2. Select the next step to modify
  3. Edit the prompt instructions
  4. Test with a sample meeting

Editing Canvas Templates

Customize the scorecard and panel summary documents:

  1. Go to Settings โ†’ Canvas Templates
  2. Open the template in the collaborative editor
  3. Add, remove, or rearrange sections
  4. Save to apply to future canvases

๐Ÿš€ Extend It Your Way

This toolkit is a starting point, not a ceiling. Every element can be customized, extended, or replaced.

Remix in the UI. Once installed, all components (templates, shortcuts, next steps, canvases, workflows) appear in your workspace settings. Edit them directly, duplicate them, or combine pieces from multiple toolkits โ€” then export your remix as a new portable toolkit.
